We're away !

Well, sort of, 6:45 we left home. A bit sticky around the M25 so we arrived 30 minutes after our expected arrival time. I'm currently in the lounge recovering from the shock of Linda's Duty Free bill!

Flight leaves in 65 minutes, gate 13 (cue sinister music...)

As it turned out, the flight wasn't too bad. OK, it left 30 minutes late after someone was taken ill and had to have their bags removed from the hold. But, for once we didn't get bouncy passengers sitting in front of us. So we didn't have to fight them to see the TVs on the back of the chairs.

I didn't bother with the films as nothing really caught my eye. Linda did watch a couple though (Slumdog Millionaire and Role Models). I passed the time messing about on my shiny new PSP :D Well, up until the point where the games got too hard, then I gave up in a huff!

We flew an unusual route today. Normally, we seem to fly over Iceland then head down the US Eastern Seaboard. Today, however, we took a more direct route - flying from Cornwall straight over the Atlantic, over Bermuda and then on to Florida. 9 hours total flying time. Arrived to 34' heat - ouch.

We picked up our car eventually - Virgin have moved terminals, from B to A. Guess who went straight to B..?

Once we had the car it was a quick stop off at a local WalMart then off down to the Gulf of Mexico.

Our destination was a place called Treasure Island. We arrived at around 8:50 in the evening. Sadly, it was already dark so we've not had a chance to see what the surroundings are like. I have been here before, with my brother in 1988, but it's changed a lot since then I bet.

We got our room, which was on the ground floor. Linda wasn't keen, so we're now on the second floor, but facing west towards the Gulf.

Getting quite tired now as, technically it's 3:35am tomorrow!!
