[16:47 EST]

Yes, a blog update actually done on the day in question!

Today we were awake by about 8am, not bad considering we'd only been asleep 6 hours. We had a quiet morning then around noon we set off to the Gaylord Palms hotel, near I4 to visit the ICE show. We've done this a couple of times before. But this time it was a different theme: Charlie Brown.

As before, the place is inside a massive marquee type building kept at a constant 9'F (-12'C). The place is full of ice sculptures centred around a theme.

Each sculpture is quite large, the Snoopy and Kennel above was probably 5 to 6 feet high.

All the usual Peanuts themes and of course you can guess the music being played in the background.

There was also the usual nativity scene at the end.

Once out, we had a chance to warm up our frozen extremities - and we both had work gloves and scarves too.

Once back outside, we paid for the parking ($22 + tax for a 2 hour stay!!) and headed to the nearby Perkins for some lunch. We'd been there before when we stayed on Terra Verde.

Then back to the apartment for a couple of hours until later when we plan to go out to Downtown Disney (now called Disney Springs) to see a new type of event involving drones...

[22:21 EST]

Back from Disney Springs where we had a nice ice-cream sundae from Ghirardelli then went for a walk around the shops. We didn't get much but Linda picked up a nice Eeyore ornament in glass.

At 8:30 we stoppped by the waterside to watch the brief drone show. This is a show comprised of 300 autonomous small drones that hover in the sky and put on a performance. Personally, I think this type of thing has a lot of potential and will be a lot more controllable than basic fireworks. Should be interesting to see how this goes.

Here's a video of what I saw. It'll probably be best viewed fullscreen as the drones were a fair distance away.
