Another beach day - but this time we went South. Indeed we went as far south as we could on Anna Maria island, down to Coquina Beach which is on the southern tip of the island, right next to the highway bridge leading to Longboat Key - the next island along.

Coquita is a well developed area in that it's specifically for visitors. Both swimmers and fishermen. There's ample parking and lots of life guard towers too.

We set ourselves up in a quite spot and I initially went for a walk around near the bridge - which was a large no-swimming area. This was supposedly due to strong currents, but based on the fact that we'd seen a shark in the nearby area only a couple of days ago, I wasn't too keen to take a dip myself!

The area itself is very pretty though - plenty of white sand and blue water.

In the meantime, Linda was getting through yet another book - I think she'd read eight now since we came away!

I tried a bit of snorkelling, but to be honest, there wasn't much to see other than white sand and the odd shell. I think we should go back to the beach near the Birds Nest location tomorrow - although not as picturesque, it's got a small pier which means I should be able to see some stuff when snorkelling - I did last year!

So instead we both sat under our small umbrella, trying not to get too burnt, until we couldn't take the heat any longer. Even with the odd dip in the sea it was getting too hot. So we packed our stuff up and went back home and straight into the pool again (ah, the life eh?)

We were back in the apartment for sunset then out to a sports bar for something to eat
