Saturday 19th July

[07:55 UK]

Left for the airport at 5am.

No Traffic really so we were at Heathrow within the hour.

First time at the new Virgin-only terminal and we pretty much flew straight through (30 minutes from arrival to the duty-free.

We were the first to arrive in the lounge (it hadn't long opened). So I had plenty of time to pick a seat near a plug for the laptop.

A quick drink and Linda was straight off to the duty free.

In fact, she's just returned, laden down with bags already :(

I've been assured all the stuff in the bags are 'bargains' - that's OK then!

Flight's gate has appeared, Gate 5. No reports of delays.

Flight arrived on time for once. A little bit jerky on landing but we were there in one piece.

Even the cab ride into the city went quickly.

The temperature is in the region of 90'F. With 40% humidity, so it's not as muggy as Florida.

Our room wasn't ready, in fact we had 2 hours to take up before we could get into the room, so we went for a walk along Lexington Avenue - walking along the market that was taking place there. We turned around at 50th street and head back.

When we finally returned, the room was ready, but only on the 5th floor. However, it's a corner room so has windows on two sides of the room and I quite like that.

Here are some pics:

Meal at a small pizza place : Brickoven Pizza 33. Very nice food and best of all just around the corner from us!

Picked up some stuff from Walgreens to allow us to stock the fridge, then back to the hotel.

It's an early night tonight because we're being picked up at 05:10am for our trip to Niagara Falls tomorrow. :D
