As we start our second week in Florida, we're finally getting the sleep pattern under control. All last week I was waking up at or before 5am, whilst it is still dark here. But this morning the first light of dawn was already in the sky before I was awake.

Looking out of the window, we could see there was activity near a marked out turtle nesting site which has been sitting near the entrance to the beach for a few days now. The Sea Turtle Patrol (real!) was taking down the markings, so I assume the turtles have now hatched.

From the interested bystanders reactions, they must have had a couple of small turtles in the back of their buggy too.

After breakfast we collected our things and headed down the short path to the beach. I'd grabbed the new chairs from the back of the car and we spent a couple of hours in the sun (I couldn't get the umbrella to stay up) reading our kindles.

Finally, it was getting to warm to sit there, despite the odd paddle in the sea, so we retreated to the pool for another half hour. That cooled it down a lot but even then, with the sun high in the sky, we needed to retreat from the heat back into the apartment.

Humidity has dropped off a lot - we no longer get lots of condensation on the windows in the morning - but it's still very hot.

Once later afternoon had arrived, we collected our things and headed out to 'Historic' Bridge Street nearby. Here we paid and boarded the boat for our sunset trip.

The boat was busy, but it was a good trip anyway. There were a few boats in the water still capsized of sunk following Hurricane Irma's recent near-miss.

Once the sun lowered some more we got some good photos in.

More in the album below.

We also got a couple photo done.

We were back on the dock by 7:30 and we drove back (via a Publix visit) and had a light lunch back at the apartment.
