Tuesday 14th October

We were woken up early this morning by a continuous line of electrical storms that were moving North up the gulf. The rain stayed out to sea, but we got the lightning.

It peaked around 5:30 when I got this shot.

Lots of lightning

It's now 8am and the thunder is almost continuous, but as it's light now you can't see the lightning as easily.

By 9am the rain had arrived in force.

The sea has got a lot more choppy and there's no blue sky to be seen anywhere.

The rain arrives

Woah! 09:42 and the power's just failed twice in a few moments. The router we have has a backup battery so everything failed except the internet! TV's down but Linda's Skype home was unaffected! The cloud has thinned slightly but the lightning is still there.

By midday the rain had passed and it had brightened up enough to go out for a walk along the beach. It was very humid out there even with the sea breeze. The waves were still choppy too.

Rain approaches

But even though is wasn't ideal, we still managed a walk for a hour before we returned to have some lunch.

Later we went down to the pool for a swim. But we were only in there maybe 30 minutes before we thought it prudent to get out. More black clouds were approaching and once we heard thunder, we thought is wise to exit the large body of water we were floating about in!

By the time we'd had a shower, the rain was back with vengeance. It's still rattling off the windows at the moment. Low cloud means that the horizon has gone.

The horizon has vanished

Once it calm down a bit we'll think about heading out for some dinner.
