Please complete the following Division questions as today's warm-up
Please log on to Mathletics, your teacher has set 5 tasks for you
The following is an OPTIONAL EXTENSION task
L.I. We are learning to use technology to design a representation of a character’s home that reveals important traits about them
S.C. We can represent important traits for a character when creating a scene or setting from a book we have read
Task 1: 20 minutes of silent reading
Task 2: Watch the teacher video for more detailed explanation and support.
Instructions:
Today you will choose a character from a story you have read. You might choose a character from The Giver or a character from a different book you have read recently. You are going to create a home for this fictional character in Minecraft. Decorate the home with items and build objects that represent their character traits. If you do not have access to Minecraft, you can instead use an alternative app (see https://www.codemom.ai/best-3d-building-game-apps-for-kids/ for ideas). You could instead create a Leggo version, collage or drawing, etc of your character’s home. Whatever you choose, make sure you take your time and make it an attractive and detailed visual representation.
Here is an optional quick video tutorial on how to build a starter house in Minecraft: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jzm_tH_mcP0
Task 3:
Take a screenshot/photo of your creation and upload it in the Reading assignment folder for today. Please leave a comment when you hand it in, telling us: the name of the character, the book they are from, and describe a few of the details/objects that you have added to the home/scene and why they were chosen.

LI: We are learning to edit our information reports
SC: I will be successful if I can focus on my sizzling start, dialogue and tightening tension editing
Information Report Editing
Today’s focus:
Sizzling start
Dynamic dialogue
Tightening tension
Today we will be spending the time editing our information report drafts. This will include:
Correcting punctuation (capital letters, full stops, quotation marks)
Analysing our sentence structure and making sure it makes sense
You may even want to add in more important information or facts you have gained recently
I would recommend that you focus on these Seven Steps techniques while editing:
Is your sizzling start engaging?
Does your sizzling start include some effective techniques?
Have you included dialogue into you report?
Does the dialogue make the report more interesting?
Have you included some tension into your report?
We really would like you to upload your work so we can analyse the techniques you have used into your information report and give you some valuable feedback!
