Learning Intention: We are learning to observe our shadows over a day.
Success Criteria:
I can observe my shadow.
I can pose questions.
I can record results.
Tuning In: Today we are going to observe what our shadows do over the time period of a day. To begin find a sunny spot to stand, trace around your feet with some chalk. If you don’t have chalk place something down on the ground to mark the spot where you will come back to throughout the day.
Activity:
You will need Chalk or other materials to mark areas on the ground.
Begin by marking your feet on the ground and then trace around your shadow (might need help with this). Record the time for this first outline.
Questions to ask yourself: If I come back in an hour will my shadow have moved? Will it be longer? Shorter? Wider?
Come back throughout the day and keep tracing your shadow, making sure you show what time you did it. On your iPad you could take a series of photos to show what is happening.
