Watch this catchy song which helps explain what an adjective is.
Draw a character from one of your favourite books and use adjectives to describe what that character is like. You might like to use Pigeon, but please choose your own words!
Mild: Write down 5 adjectives to describe your character
Spicy: Write down 10 adjectives to describe your character
Hot: Challenge yourself to as many adjectives as you can. How many do you think you could think of?
Learning intention: We are learning to write short, sharp and interesting fictional snapshots.
Success Criteria: I can use an Australian Animal to inspire a character for a writing piece

SNAPSHOT WRITING
Students create a character based on an Australian Animal and its characteristics
(i.e. shy platypus, sleep/lazy koala, grumpy wombat that wants to be left alone.)
Imagine a photo is taken capturing one moment of life for that animal in the bush (remember to be creative as it is fictional)
Describe that moment, as if you were the character. What would you

think
hear
smell
Make it as interesting as possible… start with an exciting first sentence.

Success criteria: I can break my spelling words down into the sounds I can hear

1 Write the spelling word. Say the spelling word out loud.
2. Count the sounds in your spelling word, and write the tricky part.
3. You should set it out like we have above. Repeat this for all of your spelling words.
4. Complete the Tuesday column in the weekly Spelling List we started yesterday

Students are to choose a chilli level from below and answer the questions and show, either in their maths book or with counters, how they worked each one out.
It would be best to have the question written next to their working also, so teachers can see which ones they were working on. There is a printable sheet here if that makes it easier to include, otherwise, students can simply write the story problem in their books. Students can also tell us which strategy helps them best and why?
Mild-
Nynon has 2 boxes of tickets. Each box holds 2 tickets. How many tickets does Nynon have?
Grace has 3 jars. Each jar has 5 cookies in it. How many cookies does Grace have?
Digby bought 4 packets of footy cards. Each pack had 5 cards in it. How many footy cards does Digby have?
Spicy-
Ashlen bought some eggs. There are 3 eggs in each box. How many eggs are in 7 boxes?
Kalani has 5 boxes of candies. Each box holds 6 candies. How many candies does Kalani have?
Evie bought some new pencils. One pencil costs $5. How much do 5 pencils cost?
Hot-
Nick and 6 more of his friends have 7 bananas each. How many bananas are there in total?
Josh went to the shops 7 times last week. He bought 5 ice-creams each time he went to the shop. How many ice-creams did Joshua buy last week?
Dorian went to the beach 5 times a week. Each time he went he found 6 new shells. How many shells did Dorian find in a month? (read this one carefully,,it might not be as easy as it first looks)
