Learning intention: We are learning to locate information in a text.
We will be successful if we can: Skim and scan the text for key words and information. Find details about convict escapes using a website.
The remoteness of Australia and its landscape made it an ideal choice for a place where criminals could be sent for committing crimes in the early 19th century. Many of the convicts tried to escape and flee into the bush. Later, other convicts tried to escape by sea, heading across the Pacific Ocean. In this clip, Charles meets Liam, an escaped convict who is attempting to travel over the Blue Mountains to the west.
Step 1: Choose a convict to research from the list below. You will be researching their story of escape.
-Mary Bryant
-Alexander Pearce
-William Buckley
Step 2: Use this website as a starting point for your research into their escape.
Find details such as
-Where did they escape from?
-How did they escape?
-Were they caught and what was the punishment?
Step 3: Upload your work to Google Classroom.

Learning Intention: We are learning how to calculate the perimeter of squares and rectangles.
We will be successful when we can: use the formula and strategies to accurately measure the perimeter of squares and rectangles.
Warm Up: 10-15 Minutes
To warm up today we are practising the skill we learned yesterday on how to convert between units. Here are some conversion problems for you to try and solve!
Main: 35-45 Minutes
We are learning how to measure the perimeter of a shape. Here is a picture to help us remember that the perimeter is around the outside of the shape, not to be confused with the area, the inside of a shape. When finding out what is the length and what is the width, in geometry the longest side will be the length, and the other the width!
