Set a timer (you could ask a parent or sibling to keep time or you could set a timer on your iPad) for 20 mins.
Your challenge today is to use the writing prompt ‘The Shadow’ to inspire writing for 20 minutes.
The idea is that you can write anything you like as long as you are writing for 20 minutes. This could be a short story, newspaper article, letter, poem etc.
Don’t worry too much if you are unsure of how to spell a word, you can always give it a red hot go and then go back later to check.
Try and remember to use capital letters and full stops.
When you have finished writing, please spend 10 minutes rereading your writing to make sure that it makes sense and to look up any words that you think you may have spelt incorrectly.
We are really looking forward to hearing your writing in the coming weeks!

Mum and Dad as the Teacher
During Remote Learning Mum and Dad have to wear many different hats.
They may wear their worker hat, their parent hat and their teacher hat all in one day. We are going to explore our school value of RESPECT when being taught or supported by our mum and dad at home.
RESPECT is a two way relationship. These suggestions are for PARENTS and STUDENTS
Some of the qualities of respect are:
Attentive listening- listening with your eyes, ears and your heart.
Patience- pausing and allowing space for learning to happen in the time it requires. Learning takes time. Often we need to repeat something many times.
Letting go of expectations- Accepting your yourself and others exactly where they are.
We are not perfect!
It's 100% OK to make mistakes. Mistake help up learn and build resilience
3, Sometimes learning can feel really uncomfortable. When it does feel uncomfortable, we might need to check if we are both showing the qualities of RESPECT.
Create a short list of the things mum and dad have taught you.
Go and have a chat with mum and dad about these things.
You might like to share how felt when you were being taught and what qualities mum and dad expressed that helped you..
What are things that help you learn?
