Draw a picture to match the description of Mr Willy Wonka. You might need to listen to the description a few times to make sure you haven’t missed anything!

Learning Intention:
We are learning to write from a ‘seed’.

Activity:
Students create a ‘seed’ in their notebooks about being caught in the rain. They can then create a draft of either a recount or a narrative.

Each of the 42 lists comes with a lesson that teaches one of the basic building blocks of spelling in the English language. These basic building blocks include the different phonograms, sounds, and spelling rules.’

7- Spelling Bus
‘Spelling Bus is for learning to spell and practice to spell. Kids see the pictures and listens to the word and then type the spelling.’

Learning intention: We are learning to create a map
Success criteria: I can make a map of my backyard/house and write directions to lead someone else to the buried treasure.
Home learning activity:
Watch the introduction video from Pirate Westbeard above
Choose some buried treasure and hide it (Yarrr don’t be telling any landlubbers where your treasure be hidin’ me mateys)
Draw a map of your backyard using the grid paper in your Maths book. Mark where the treasure can be found (X marks the spot!)
Write out directions for someone else to find your treasure. Have a look at the video by Pirate Westbeard and Captain Billbeard. Don’t forget to test your directions by following them yourself. You might need to adjust some of your directions to help your friend find the treasure.
Give to a friend to find the buried treasure!
Extra bonus: You might like to get creative and make your treasure map look like it’s really old! Mrs W shows you how to do this on the second video above. (The first step seems to have been cut off but just showed Mrs W puting 2 teaspoons of instant coffee in with about 1/3 cup of boiling water and mixing, then pouring it over a piece of paper in a kitchen tray).
Every day you can choose one Specialist activity you would like to complete for the day. Remember there are five Specialist areas; Art, Performing Arts, STEM, Indonesian and Blue Earth.
