Learning Intention: We are learning about digraphs and blends.
Success Criteria: We can tell the difference between a digraph and a blend.
Warm up activity:
Watch the cued articulation video to refresh your memory of the cue for each sound.
Activity:
We have spent a couple of days looking at the vowels, today we are going to be looking at consonants and the sounds that they can make. We are going to be looking specifically on consonant digraphs and consonant blends. Divide a new page in your LEARNING BOOK into two parts, with the heading digraph on one side and blend on the other. After watching today’s instructional video, challenge yourself to see if you can find a few examples while you investigate by reading through some books and picking out a few words. Please submit a photo of your examples below.
Learning Intention: We are drafting our weather reports
We are tracing f’s beginning at the correct entry point
Success Criteria: I can reread my draft to my home school teacher.
I can trace over the f’s
For handwriting today sing your handwriting song then begin page 43. Just trace today and complete the frog pictures at the bottom of the page. Remember developing your fine motor skills is important for good handwriting so colour in a detailed way, even the tiny mozzies.
I’m hoping everyone has a great notebook page filled with words and ideas to use for drafting their weather report. If you already have a draft you could read it and see if you can improve it, then do other writing of your choice.
This weather report is your script for when you present your weather report. You will practice and read the weather forecast just like the tv presenters do.
Today when you draft, stop every now and then and read your writing aloud to see if you like how it sounds. Remember if you don’t like how it sounds your audience won’t either. Cross out or add things to make it sound interesting and informative.
I videoed myself being a weather reporter then I used that video to write my script.
Learning Intention: We are learning to measure and compare the capacities of pairs of objects using uniform informal units.
Success Criteria:
-I understand that capacity is the ‘amount that something can hold’.
-I can compare the capacity of two containers.
-I can order containers from smallest to largest capacity.
Meteorologists remember to record today’s weather on your Weather Chart (symbol and temperature).
You will need:
Variety of plastic/glass containers
Spoons, cups
Funnel
Jug
water/sand/rice
Maths book
Choose four different sized containers. Estimate how many cups/spoonfuls, etc. to fill each container with water, sand or rice.
Check estimations and record findings on a chart in your Math book.
CONTAINER 1 ESTIMATE NUMBER OF CUPS/SPOONS ANSWER
Order the containers from the greatest capacity to the container which holds the least.
Draw them in order on your chart.
Repeat the activity with a different set of four containers.
You might have to do this activity over the bath or laundry trough or kitchen sink or large tub or out in your sand-pit so you don’t make a mess!
Extra Challenge: If you would like to, complete the attached Task Cards.
