Learning Intention: We are learning about procedural texts.
Success Criteria: We can identify the different parts of a procedural text.
Activity:
Today we are going to look at a procedural text. This text is called How to make a Rain Gauge and it outlines the instructions to follow in order to make a real life rain gauge. Please watch the video outlining the different features of a procedural text. Once you are finished, see if you can think of any other examples of procedural texts?
Learning Intention: We are drafting and editing our weather reports.
We are getting better at writing the letter Ff
Success Criteria: I can edit my weather report to make it sound better.
I have finished both pages of my handwriting book.
Complete page 43 of your handwriting book. This is where you really see how your Ffs have improved.
Many of you will have nearly finished your draft or even finished it. Read yesterday’s work and continue so that the script of your weather report is finished. Now is the time to edit. Edit your writing yourself before you show your home school teacher. Please use a different colour pen for your editing? This will show your teacher how well you are editing your own work.
Take a photo of your edited draft and upload it before you ask your home school teacher for a conference. We really want to see your work so we can help set writing goals with you.
Now publish your draft so that it is easy to read and we can present it next week.
Learning Intention: We are learning to measure and compare the capacities of pairs of objects using uniform informal units.
Success Criteria:
-I understand that capacity is the ‘amount that something can hold’.
-I can make a rain gauge to measure the amount of rainfall in millilitres.
Meteorologists remember to record today’s weather on your Weather Chart (symbol and temperature).
Follow the procedure that you read in Reading today to make your own rain gauge or watch the attached videos for an alternative method.
Make sure you measure the 10 millilitres accurately.
Use the rain gauge to keep track of our daily or weekly rain totals. Record this in a chart. (see attached example)
Submit a photo of your rain gauge to Google Classroom.
