LI: We are learning to establish tightening tension techniques by adding this into our information reports
SC: I will can be successful if I can implement dynamic dialogue techniques into my information report
Informative Writing – Dynamic Dialogue
Activity 1:
Just like last week with our tightening tension, this week you will be putting some dynamic dialogue into your chosen information reports you have been working on for the past several weeks.
This may seem a little difficult at first with your chosen topic, but don’t forget our past activities and the different ways we can include dialogue.
Remembering our techniques of why we include dialogue:
Move the action along (e.g. in a news report or factual recount)
Bring in information or facts (e.g. from an expert or eyewitness)
Provide different points of view on the topic (e.g. people’s reactions to a contentious issue)
Alter the voice, pace or tone of the text.
To help you with your dialogue, you can conduct some research and find quotes related to your topic! (If you can’t find any, you’re more than welcome to just make some up)
Here is an example of mine continuing from last week:
… serving different purposes around the world. Bark! Bark! Bark! My dog rusty has just seen a rabbit as he quickly turns left to chase, but wait, now there is a duck to his right! Ok, now I can see how they may be a little annoying, whoops! A well-trained dog can be one of the most loving and enjoyable companions you ever have the pleasure of experiencing. A daily routine of love, care and a training routine can make this happen. Dogs even help and assist people going through tough times. “Happiness is a warm puppy,” said Charles M. Shultz, and I couldn’t agree more!
Keeping your dog well fed is another way to make them healthy and happy. “Dogs should be consuming the six basic nutrients which are protein, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals and water,” said Professor Canine (I made that up). While providing your dog with these essential foods, you must keep your dog active at the same time. We don’t want little Rex turning into big Rex! A minimum of 30 minutes of exercise per day is necessary. If this is not possible then maybe a dog isn’t the thing for you.
