Please Log on to your Mathletics account. Your classroom teacher has set several task relating to Fractions
***Next Fridays Math lesson will have the option to make a Chia Seed Pudding, which I encourage all students to participate in.
Could you please ask your parents if they could buy some Almond Milk and Chia Seeds in their next visit to the Supermarket. It will be optional, but will make the Math task easier and will be tasty! Any brand of Almond Milk and Chia Seed will be fine.
Each day you need to read for at least 20 minutes. This can be a novel, picture story books, magazines, e-books or online reading sites (text not video). The 3 tasks today are about setting up for home reading and ensuring you have space and resources that you need. Task 1 and 2 require you to write answers in your literacy workbook.
Task 1: Write a description of your home library, answering the following questions:
Where do you like to read?
What sort of books/texts do you read at home?
What can you do if you run out of books/text at home?
Task 2: Login into and explore these online resources. You need to answer the question: Which of these resources would you recommend?
https://newsela.com (need to setup an account)
https://www.overdrive.com/apps/libby/ (need to download an app)
https://www.storylineonline.net/
Task 3:
This term we will be having online readings conferences. During this time you will be discussing a book you have read with a small group and your teacher in a scheduled Google Meet. Keep these questions in mind as you read (don’t worry you will be reminded of the questions again later too), as you will prompted to respond to them during this online conference:
What is the title and author of your book?
What do you like best about your book?
What feelings did this book evoke for you?
Which character do you most closely relate to, and why?
How have you been changed by what you read?
Does your new understanding leave you feeling motivated to take any action?
Letter to your Buddy
Even though we may not see our buddies for a while we can still get in contact with them. The feelings that we are currently experiencing such as stress, nervousness and confusion are also things the preps are feeling too! This is why we want you to write a letter to your buddy. This will brighten your buddies day while keeping in contact with them.
I would advise that you create a draft in your literacy books, take your time to edit, then create a good copy on a spare piece of paper that can be sent in an envelope.
Your letter should consist of (but can include much more if you like):
- How you are feeling about remote learning
- Asking your buddy how they feel
- Telling them what works well during remote learning
- Asking them what they are excited about
- You may also want to draw a picture of one of your preps favourite things (preps love pictures!)
When your letter is finished we would love to be able to pass it on to your prep Buddy.
If you are able to, any day next week, could you please drop it into the office at school.
If not you could post it to the school sometime next week. If you choose this option could you address the envelope as follows:
Mr Kade Petering
Bellbrae Primary School
50 School Road
Bellbrae 3228
This would allow us to pass them on to your Buddy and they will begin writing one to you!
