There are only 4 writing lessons this week because we have our virtual incursion. So on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on your grade, you will miss a writing session. That is why Tuesday and Wednesday writing is the same. Of course you can continue your writing on both days if you choose.
Learning Intention- We are learning about the digraph /ss/ making the sound "s" as in dress.
Success Criteria- I can select 8 words for my weekly spelling list and I can find 2 BOB words to add to my Weekly Spelling List.
REMEMBER B.O.B. stands for “Back of Book” words. If we were at school, we would have a list in the back of our writing book to keep track of ‘tricky’ words that we need to practise. Each week we add 2 of these BOB words to our weekly spelling list so we can learn them.

You will need- handwriting book, your current writing piece or your notebook, grey lead.
Activity-
-Open page 52 and look at the letter Ww. Begin at the correct starting point and really focus on correctly forming the letter.
-Authors don’t know how to spell all the words they need to write an interesting text.
-What do you do if you want to use a word but do not know how to spell it?
Stretch it out, try each part, underline it and keep writing.
Today when you are writing, show some challenging words you have used and how you have ‘had a go’ at spelling these words.
You will all be up to different places in your writing. Continue with your writing piece or complete a new notebook page.

Today’s activity is the pre-learning for our incursion taking place tomorrow and Wednesday. Watch the video about Big J and Little Cuz to become familiar with these characters and their story. I don’t want to spoil anything, but they have big plans!
After watching the video, have a think about a couple of things.

We can tell the time in hours and half hours. The minute hand goes around a full circle in one hour, so after half an hour the minute hand has only gone around half the circle. When we draw a clock, the 6 is halfway around the circle and 6 is half of 12. The hour hand (small hand) is halfway between the last hour and the next hour.
On a digital clock, an hour is shown by 60 mins. Half of 60 is 30. So half an hour is shown by the number 30. The hour number is the same number as the hour that has just passed.
Complete the following worksheets to practise reading and writing times to the half hour.
First, make each time on your home-made clock then record it on the worksheet.
