Learning intention: We are learning about character traits
Success Criteria: I can identify inside and outside traits about a character
Home learning activity:
Watch the above video of Mrs WK reading the story ‘The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog’
Watch the second video of Mrs WK giving instructions on how to complete the task.
Draw the character from the book and rule a line down the middle of it. One one side write OUTSIDE and on the other, write INSIDE. In the outside section you will write the characters physical traits (what they look like). On the other side you will write the inside character traits. Have a look at Mrs W’s example below.

Your child should watch (mb)
Students choose 8 words from the weekly spelling list that suit them.
Spelling Lists are already pasted into their Spelling Book.
They will also choose 2 'BOB' or 'Opportunity' words that they would like to practise. These words do not need to have the weekly spelling focus in them. These words might be from the students writing or new words that they have learnt from their reading lessons this week.
Learning intention: We are learning about multiplication and division.
Success Criteria: I can use ‘Times Tables’ and a Multiplication chart to help me recall facts.
Chilli Levels:
Mild- beginning to recall facts from 10, 5 and 2 times tables, as well as some division facts.
Spicy- confident with 10s, 5s and 2s and experimenting with 3s and 4s, as well as some division facts.
Hot- finding patterns and strategies to mentally recall many times table facts, including division.
Warm Up: Students can find facts on their Multiplication chart that they are becoming more confident with. Try 10s, 5s and 2s. Are there any that you can recall in your mind without having to check for the answer?
Activities on Mathletics
Times Table songs (all levels)
Rainforest Maths link (Spicy Level)
Multi Verse (Hot Chilli Level)
Students may like to play around with these games and see which they like best. As students become more confident, parents can give them random quizzes, at the diner table, driving in the car etc. Eg: What’s 5X2? 5X10? 3X4? etc.
The Rainforest Maths activity links multiplication and division.
The ‘Multi Verse’ game is all about multiplication but quite a complex, involved game of travelling to different planets, collecting resources etc. Some kids will love it!
