Home learning activity:
Watch the video of Mrs W reading A-Z of Australian animals.
Create your own alphabet strip like the one Mrs W has used in the video. You could rummage through your recycling bin at home for some cardboard, or you might like to just use paper.
Have a go at putting the following topic words about Australian Animals into alphabetical order. Look carefully, there might be more than one word that starts with a particular letter!
Words
koala, cassowary, marsupial, echidna, platypus, wallaby, dingo, lorikeet, galah, quokka, numbat, bilby, reptile, habitat, diet, features
Learning intention: We can use our Writing Seed to plan an Information Report.
Success Criteria: I can start to plan for an Information by selecting three FAT questions as subheadings for my Information Report.

Activity: Watch first part of the video and pause when asked.
Students circle three of their questions from their writers notebook that would make good subheadings for their Information Report.
Students put an asterisk beside two other questions that might be used as an interesting fact for their sizzling start and exciting ending.

Home Learning activity:
Spelling Grid Activity- This grid is pasted in the student’s Spelling Book already.
1 Write the spelling word. Say the spelling word out loud.
2. Count the sounds in your spelling word, and write the tricky part.
3. You should set it out like we have above. Repeat this for all of your spelling words.
4. Complete the Tuesday column in the weekly Spelling List we started yesterday

Activity: Butterfly House
Imagine you are at the Butterfly House at the Zoo. As part of your new role as a Ranger Guide you learnt that butterflies are made up of 4 wings, 1 body and 2 feelers (antennae). You have been asked to make diagrams or models of butterflies to show this.
Choose a chilli level and answer the following questions…
How many wings, bodies and feelers would be needed to make a model or draw a diagram of the butterflies?

Mild- 2, 3 and/or 5 butterflies
