Reading

Introduction:

Join Miss G as we revise what we have learnt about syllables and the first 2 different syllable types - closed and open.

(Remember: a syllable is ‘a little bit of a word’)

Activity (Reading Eggs)

After learning about Closed and Open syllables with Miss G, logon to Reading Eggs and complete the set task.

You have watched the Syllable video with Miss G and finished your Reading Eggs tasks.

Challenge: Go on a syllable hunt in your readers - can you find some closed and open syllable words? Record these in your Spelling book.

Writing

Learning Intention: We are learning to publish and decorate our Fathers Day Cards.

Success Criteria:

I write a neat good copy of my message
I have a front cover
I draw/collage/make pictures to put on and in my card

You will need:

Paper (plain or coloured - whatever you have)
Grey lead pencil (to write)
Coloured pencils (to illustrate)

Introduction: Join Miss G for a story and as she shows you some ideas for how you could publish your Father’s Day card.

Activity: Publish your Father’s Day card taking time, care and effort as you do.

You will know you are finished when…

You have written a neat copy of your letter and drawn some amazing illustrations and decoration to match.

Challenge: Publish a card to your Grandpa too and pop it in the mail!

Spelling

Learning Intention: We are learning to write our sentence of the week.

Success Criteria:

I use my spelling fingers to help me write all the sounds I hear
I write all the words in my sentence

You will need:

Whiteboard
Marker

Introduction: Follow along with Miss G for our Spelling dictation lesson. Write your sentence on your board. Remember you can pause at any point to give yourself more time.

Activity: Take a picture of your sentence and submit it on Google Classroom.

You will know you are finished when… You can read your sentence back and it includes all of the sounds and words AND you have submitted a picture of your work.

Challenge:

Try writing come of your Common Words, or the Irregular words belong using ‘Sneak a Peek’.
