Watch the video of Mr Heard introducing the lesson for today.
Activity: Today we are going to think about questions we would like to research and answer about the planet we have chosen for our informative writing.
Your challenge is to list at least 5 questions (who? what? when? where? why? how?) about your planet to investigate. Don’t forget to think deeply and get creative with your questions - if you ask interesting questions your audience will be more engaged when they read your informative writing.
e.g.
Why is Mars called the Red Planet?
What is the size of Mars compared to Earth?
How many moons does Mars have and do they have names?
Has anyone ever been to Mars?
How far is Mars from Earth and can we see it at night time?

You will need:
Scissors
Glue
Maths Grid Paper
Using a page from your Maths book, cut out a range of squares and rectangles, colouring them different colours. Arrange them on a separate piece of paper so that they are touching. Glue them on. Finally, calculate the area of the shapes by using the length times width formula.
