Listen to Mrs. Holmes read ‘We are the Gardeners’ by Joanna Gaines
Today we are introducing you to our Inquiry focus for next term which will explore the way in which food makes its way from the Farm to our Fork.
Today we would like you to think about your first Inquiry task which is called - The POT TO PLATE Project.
For this project we would like you to select a vegetable, fruit or herb to plant and grow throughout Term 4. We will water and care for our plants at school. In the final week of term we will harvest our plants and make recipes using the ingredients that we have grown in our pots.
Activity:
Task One:
Today we would like you to PLAN which herb, fruit or vegetable that you would like to grow. Use the planting guide to help you choose a plant in season.
Task Two:
We would like you to find a recipe that would use that ingredient and write or print it. The website below has thousands of recipes to explore.
Task Three.
Design a label for your pot so that when it comes to school - we know that it is yours. It would be great if your label was weatherproof, so maybe you could use a piece of wood or material.
In the next week or over the school holidays we would like you to plant your ingredient in a labelled pot that you are happy to bring to school in Week Two.
Learning Intention: We are learning to publish our writing.
Success Criteria: I have grabbed the attention of my audience through creative and engaging publishing.
Activity:
Today we are continuing to publish our writing pieces in creative and engaging ways. Below are links to short clips that you can use as inspiration when publishing.
Once you have explored the videos and website links spend some more time publishing your writing pieces. We would really like it if you could bring your published writing in to school when we return to learning in the classroom!
Learning Intention: We are learning to find a fraction of a group.
Success Criteria: I can find the fraction of a given number.
Today, we are going to explore how to find the fraction of a collection or group. Please watch the video to gain some handy tips on how to do this!
After you have watched the video work through the 'Fractions of a group' questions below.
