Learning Intention:
We are learning to spell words using the letter /u/ making two sounds "y" and "oo" as in use.
Success Criteria:
I can include all of my Spelling words in a short story (around 3-4 sentences).
Write out your words for this week in the daily column in your Spelling book.
Next, complete the following Spelling activity in your Spelling book:
Short Story
Say your words.
Write out your words in a list on your activity page.
Write a short story using as many of your spelling words as you can.
Learning Intention:
We can login to Reading Eggs and answer questions using clues from the text.
Success Criteria:
I have used clues including words and pictures from the text to answer questions about the book.
Activity 1 -
Login to the Reading Eggspress Library.
Read chapters 5, 6, 7 and 13 of the book 'Achieving Optimal Health' and complete the quiz at the end of each section.
You may need to reread the text to find the important information and keywords to answer the questions at the end of each section.
If you would like to read along with Miss White, WATCH her videos here.
Activity 2 -
Read through the Positive Affirmations on these sheets below.
When you find a statement that is helpful to you, close your eyes and repeat it to yourself 5 or 6 times.
Activity 3 -
Find a joke or two that you think will make your teacher laugh!
Film yourself telling the jokes, and submit to Google Classroom.
Give your teacher a giggle today!
Learning Intention:
We are learning how to research a topic effectively.
Success Criteria: I can…
finish researching my topic and collect the information I have found together.
write the information I have found for my HEALTH Information Report in my own words.
If you have finished your FINAL DRAFT for your Information Report about your HEALTH TOPIC and have paraphrased ALL of your paragraphs, please upload a photo to Google Classroom for your teacher.
Instead of doing today's lesson, you can do some independent writing and create a piece to be included in our Year 4 Bellbrae Anthology!
We are collecting pieces of writing from Year 4s to include in a book of published writing (our Anthology!). You could write:
a story - what about writing a mystery, fantasy or science fiction story?
a poem
a biography (writing about someone else) or an autobiography (writing about you!)
a recount
a procedural text - maybe you have a skill you could tell other people about, or have a recipe for an awesome cake!
a magazine or newspaper article
Let your imagination go wild - it's really up to you!
Please upload a photo of your Writing Anthology piece to Google Classroom if this is what you are working on today.
Activity 1
You need to check that you have researched and written down information for ALL of these paragraphs:
All about…
The physical benefits of...
The mental benefits of...
The social/emotional benefits of...
If you have finished researching the subheadings above and have written your paragraphs, choose a few (or all!) of the subheading below to research and write paragraphs for:
Tips for children who want to start…
Facts about…
Places you can…
Equipment you need to…
Activity 2
Next, you are going to paraphrase all of your HEALTH paragraphs - which means you are going to write each paragraph in your own words.
If you haven’t done any paraphrasing yet, you can find the lesson by going to Year 4 > Week 8 > Wednesday > Writing or Tuesday’s lesson from this week!
Watch Miss Evans’ video to see her paraphrasing a paragraph about HEALTH. In the video, we use these techniques:
rewording - replacing words and phrases with synonyms (words that mean the same thing).
rearranging - rearranging the words within a sentence to make a new sentence.
LI: We are learning to extend our understanding of known multiplication facts to solve division equations.
SC: We will be successful if we can:
-apply our know facts to new contexts
-understand division is dividing into equal groups
Try out this question. Watch the video for the answer.
(also known as bus shelter division)
