Learning Intention:
We are learning to spell words using the graph /y/ as in yawn and the graph /i/ and as in onion, both making the sound "y”.
Success Criteria:
I can read my Spelling words aloud to someone.
Write out your words for this week in the daily column in your Spelling book.
Next, complete the following Spelling activity in your Spelling book:
Write and Read Aloud
Write all of your words on your activity page.
Read your words aloud to someone (even a pet or toy).
Learning Intention:
We are learning to think about how others feel, and to be a good friend.
Success Criteria:
We can:
learn the meaning of ‘empathy’
come up with an example of showing empathy
TUNING IN
WATCH Murray and Mark Ruffalo talk about empathy.
Empathy is the ability to feel understanding for other people’s feelings.
Children and adults who have empathy for others not only understand when others feel sad, joyful or angry, but can also offer others support that helps them feel understood.
ACTIVITY
WRITE in your English books what empathy is (see just above).
READ Lina’s story --->
DISCUSS with a family member the importance of friendships and showing empathy to others.
MAKE UP A STORY between 2 friends that shows an example of being empathetic.
CREATE a video of your story, or write your story on Pic Collage.
Learning Intention:
We are learning to put our Information Writing into a logical order.
Success Criteria:
I can organise my Health research into sections.
Follow along with Miss Evans' video to find out about today's Writing lesson!
Last week you chose a Health topic and began researching it. Today, you will be ordering your research by putting it into sections using subheadings.
We use subheadings in Information Reports to organise our ideas and keep them in an order that is logical (which means an order that makes sense!). Subheadings also help our readers to find information quickly.
You can choose your subheadings by thinking about what the main idea of each section is.
Activity 1
Use these subheadings to help you order your research by writing them on a new page in your English book. Leave about 4-5 lines underneath each subheading so you can write your research underneath.
Please do the first four subheadings ('All about', 'The physical benefits of...', 'The mental benefits of...', 'The social/emotional benefits of...') first before moving on to the others!
Underline your subheadings!
I have left the ending of the subheadings blank by using … so you can finish it with your topic!
All about…
The physical benefits of...
The mental benefits of...
The social/emotional benefits of...
Tips for children who want to start...
Facts about...
Places you can...
Equipment you need to...
I am writing an Information Report about surfing. Here is an example of what my subheadings could look like:
All about surfing
The physical benefits of surfing
The mental benefits of surfing
The social/emotional benefits of surfing
Tips for children who want to start surfing
Facts about surfing
Places you can surf
Equipment you need to surf
Activity 2
Do some more research about your Health topic using your subheadings to help you! Maybe you could research the equipment you need for your topic, or the mental benefits of doing your topic!
LI: We are learning to extend our understanding of known multiplication facts to solve new equations.
SC: We will be successful if we can:
apply our know facts to new contexts
we know 3 x 2 = 6 so 3 x 2 tens = 6 tens
Watch the video for the answer.
Use your knowledge of the Times Tables to extend the multiplication facts and apply to other contexts
I know 4 x 7 = 28 → 4 x 7 tens = 28 tens → 4 x 70 = 280
I know 6 x 3 = 18 → 6 x 3 tens = 18 tens → 6 x 30 = 180
Complete the examples and record in Math books
PRACTISE YOUR TIMES TABLES CHANTS :D
(x2, x5, x9, x4, x3, x6, x7, x8)
Apply your skills here. That's right. Have a go!
