Independent / Shared Reading -
15 minutes reading your ‘Good Fit Book’.
Remember to add this reading to your Reading Log.
Introduction: Find yourself a nice comfortable and quiet spot and listen to Mrs.Holmes read the two chapters of George’s Secret Key to the Universe.
Activity: As you listen to Chapter 6, take notes to record the Key Information. You are going to summarise chapter 6 of George’s Secret Key to the Universe using 4 sentences. Write this summary into your Literacy Book.
EXTENSION: Create an illustration that features the Key Events from the Chapter that you have summarised.
PLEASE NOTE: AS CLASSES ARE AT DIFFERENT STAGES OF THE NOVEL PLEASE WATCH BOTH CHAPTERS THIS WEEK. SUMMARISE CHAPTER 6.

Activity:Today you will be choosing one of the planets from our solar system to research for an Informative writing piece.
You can choose from - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus or Neptune.
When you have chosen which planet you would like to focus on please write the things you already know about the planet you will be researching in your Writers Notebook.
You might already know lots about the planet you have chosen - if so don’t stop at 5 or 6, just keep going!
e.g.
Mars is the 4th planet from the sun.
Mars is also known as the Red Planet
If you would like some extra inspiration to help you choose which planet you would like to complete your informative writing piece on, re-watch the planet rap video from our Maths session last week. .
Learning Intention: We are learning to spell words using the graph /u/ making the ‘w’ sound as in quick.
Success Criteria:
I have completed the Tuesday column of my spelling sheet.
I have practised my spelling words using fancy writing.
Activity:
Complete the Tuesday column of your spelling grid. Then complete the following activity using all of your list words.
Fancy Writing
Say the word aloud.
Count the syllables in the word.
Count the sounds in the word.
Practise writing your list words using fancy writing. This could include bubble writing, calligraphy, using the word in an illustration - it is up to you to get as creative as you would like.
Learning Intention: We are learning how to find the area of a space.
Success Criteria: I can find the area of a shape by counting the square centimetres of space the shape has taken up. I can add halves of squares to calculate area.

Activity: Design Challenge:
Aliens from another galaxy have invaded earth! Design a series of aliens that have these following areas:

The alien must include halves in the designs.
