If you are done and would like a writing challenge Fridays will be a 'rocket writing' session.
Learning Intention: We are learning to plan, draft and edit in a certain time.
Success Criteria: I can plan, draft and edit a piece in 50 minutes.
Using an idea either from your notebook or a fresh idea, plan and write a narrative on a topic of your choice.
When planning make sure you know the beginning, middle and end.
When editing make sure your writing makes sense and you have included full sentences with capital letters and fullstops.
Your writing should not be more than 1 page back and front. If it is you need to edit and ‘ban the boring.’
I liked this photo, I think I'm going to use that as my writing prompt today, you could too if you like.
Learning Intention: We are learning to measure and compare the capacities of pairs of objects using uniform informal units.
Success Criteria:
-I understand that capacity is the ‘amount that something can hold’.
-I can compare the capacity of two containers.
-I can order containers from smallest to largest capacity.
Meteorologists remember to record today’s weather on your Weather Chart (symbol and temperature).
ACTIVITY:
Today you can use the time to finish any Maths activities from this week:
-finish making your Addition Fact Cards and practise them
-finish your chart showing the capacity of different containers
-check if there is any rain in your rain gauge and record the measurement on a chart
- submit a photo of your rain gauge to Google Classroom
OPTIONAL ACTIVITY: COOKING
Have fun baking a cake, muffins, bread, cookies or try making soup or jelly.
Follow a recipe (procedural text) and discuss the measurement references eg. ½ cup, 1 tablespoon, 2 cups, 1 litre, etc.
Look at the capacity of each container (ie. how much it will hold) and the actual amount you need for the recipe. eg. The capacity of this jug is two cups and I need ½ a cup of flour.
