Independent / Shared Reading:
15 minutes reading your ‘Good Fit Book’.
Remember to add this reading to your Reading Log.
Learning Intention: We are learning to listen for text clues to create an image in our mind as we read.
Success Criteria: I can use the descriptive language that I read to create a picture in my mind.
Introduction:
Visualising helps readers to be more emotionally involved in a text. Today I would like you to pause at 4 points of the story and draw what you are visualising in your mind. Really listen to the words that the author is using to help you create the picture in your mind. Tune into the senses that the author uses to describe the things that can be seen, heard, smelt and felt.
Activity:
Task One
Listen to the chapters and pause at the points listed below to draw what you are visualising. You can print the template and draw your four pictures in each of the boxes or divide your page into 4 using a ruler.
Visual One: (3:46) Please pause at 3 minutes 46 seconds and draw what you picture.
Visual Two: (6.52) Please pause at 6 minutes and 52 seconds and draw what you visualise.
Visual Three: (10.06) Please pause at the end of chapter 16 and draw what you visualise.
Visual Four: (2:53) Please pause at 2 minutes 53 seconds and draw what you visualise.
Task Two:
Reading Eggspress - Please complete Two Lessons on your reading Eggspress Map. Select a text from the library and complete the quiz.
Learning Intention: We are learning to publish our writing.
Success Criteria: I can write an informal letter following the correct structure.
Tuning In: Watch the video of Mr Heard Introducing the activity for today.
Activity:
Today you will be writing your informal letter to a friend or relative.
Remember to follow the correct structure of a letter as shown in the introduction video.
Make sure you include:
- Your address in the top right hand corner
- Date - just below your address
- Greeting - When writing an informal letter this is often Dear ______,
- Introductory paragraph - this should outline the reason you are writing your letter.
- Content- This is where you share your information and ask questions.
- Closing and signature- This could include Lots of Love, Best Wishes or Kind Regards followed by your name underneath.
If you are unsure, please use the example letter to the left to help you.
When you have finished writing your letter and you have taken time to proofread and edit, you could ask a parent to help you mail your letter to your friend or relative and wait patiently for a response!
Learning Intention: I am learning to use fractions when cooking.
Success Criteria: I can use different fractions when following a recipe.
Today, your task is to cook or bake something that requires fractions!
We would love you to submit the recipe on Google Classroom with a picture of what the fraction looks like next to the steps that include fractions.
For example, if your recipe included half a cup of water, you would draw what half a cup of water looked like next to this instruction. If your recipe included ¼ a cup of sugar, you would draw what ¼ a cup of sugar looked like next to this step. Please submit your recipe and drawing of the fractions for today’s math task!
If you cannot cook something today, please still write a recipe and draw the fraction and SUBMIT to Google Classroom.
Some recipe ideas:

pancakes
