Learning Intention: We are learning to plan for success in our Information writing.
Success Criteria: I can…
draw the Information Report graph neatly using a ruler and pencil.
fill in the Information Report graph using my research and planning.
Please watch Miss Evans' short video to help you with today's lesson!
Today you will be using all of the planning you have done this week to fill out an Information Report graph. The Information Report graph looks very similar to the Narrative/Story Graphs you have used before!
Please copy the graph NEATLY into your English book (don't just print it - we would like you to practice drawing graphs neatly). Make sure you turn your page to be landscape (long ways), and use the whole page! Please use a ruler!!
Make sure you include:
a title and the date
your topic
5 boxes that include your Sizzling Start, Fact Section 1, Fact Section 2, Fact Section 3 and your Ending with Impact.
the graph curve and both of the arrows
You only need to put one sentence in each of the boxes. You can copy the facts from the planning you have already done. You don’t need to write the whole paragraph - remember we are just planning.
LI: We are learning to recall the multiplication facts to 10 x 10.
SC: We will be successful if we can:
-use what we know to work out unknown facts
-we can recall the times tables
See video for answer.
Tuning In:
https://www.mathplayground.com/interactive_hundreds_chart.html Click this link and highlight multiples of 2's, 5's and 9's on the chart.
Explicit Lesson: Write out the nine times tables.
What do you notice about the answers? Can you see a pattern?
Put the answers on the on the hundreds chart. Look at the pattern on the 100s chart. What patterns do you see?
Some people use the 10's timetables to learn their 9s:
We know that the 10’s multiplication facts are an easy set to learn – just add a 0. So for the 9’s facts, we can use a 10’s fact, and then just subtract one group.
For example, for 9×3, first do 10×3 to make 30, and then subtract one group of 3 to make 27.
For 9×7, first do 10×7 to make 70, and then subtract one group of 7 to make 63.
Do you have a way to remember your 9's?
Try this:
9 x 1 = 9
9 x 2 = 18 (1 + 8 = 9)
9 x 3 = 27 (2 + 7 = 9)
9 x 4 = 36 (3 + 6 = 9)
9 x 5 = 45 (4 + 5= 9)
Complete this drill sheet as promptly as you can. Copy the equation and answer in your Maths book. Keep a record of how long it takes you. We are hoping to become more fluent with these equations.
Let’s go old school!
Video yourself chanting the 9 times tables. Upload it to Google Classroom.
