Learning intention: We are learning to summarise a visual text.
We will be successful if we can: Record the key characters and events from the episode.
Today we will be watching the next episode of My Place. This clip is called ‘Charles’ and is set in 1818. This week, you might like to take notes whilst watching the episode. This will help you with writing your summary.

Listing key characters
Listing key events in order
Resolution of any problems
After completing your summary, enjoy 20-30 minutes of independent reading time.

Handwriting - Monday 24th August - 2.PNG
Step 2: Using the My Place episode grid identify at least three different themes in each of the episodes you have watched so far. These themes could include:
Living conditions
Jobs
Historical moments
Family life
Clothing
Schooling
Hobbies
The grid has one theme filled out for each video to get you started, from here you have to add more of your own below.
Use the lesson notes to help jog your memory as well as looking at the my place Website and watching the short clips for each video.
Step 3: You can either print and use the grid provided or draw a similar one up in your writing book for your work today. Try to look out for the different things that each character in the episodes are doing as you are filling in the grid, where are they? What are they doing? Who are they with? What are they wearing?
Step 4: Upload your work to google classroom.

Learning Intention: We are learning to measure, compare and convert units of measurement.
We will be successful when we can: convert units between MM, CM, M and KM.
Warm Up: 10-15 Minutes
To warm up today I would like you to measure at least 6 things from around the house, thinking about what units you would use to measure each object. I would love for you to measure and record a minimum of 2 for each measurement. I would like you to estimate how big each object is first before measuring and you can then find the difference between your estimate and the actual size.
Main: 35-45 Minutes
We are learning to convert units between the different forms of measurement. Here is a handy chart for you to use when converting units:
I am going to show you how to use this chart, and your multiplication and division skills, to convert between units. Watch my examples and then try the following conversion problems!
Converting Measurement Problems
If you would like to practise more, attempt to convert the measurements from your table in the warm up or move onto the extension task.
Extension:
Try converting across two units. For example convert Millimeters to Meters or Kilometers to Centimeters. You could practice on some of your measurements in your warm up table, create your own or try some of the problems below.
You will need to do this across two steps, first convert to one unit, then to the next.
3 m -> ___ mm
35 mm -> ___ m
24 km -> ___ cm
245 cm -> ___ km
Reflection:
Is there a pattern when multiplying by 10,100 and 1000? Do you think you could multiply by 10,000? And the same with Division, could you divide by 10,000?
