Task One
Please complete 2 Reading Eggspress Lessons on your map or select a book from the Reading Eggspress Library to read and complete the quiz.
Task Two
Finding somewhere comfortable and listen to George’s Secret Key Chapters eleven and twelve.
George’s Secret Key to the Universe is a unique book as the Author’s purpose is both to entertain and inform. In chapter 12 we learn about the size of the planets in the Solar System.
Today we are going to make a 2D Solar System model.
Print the planets, colour and arrange in order.
Use the image at Planets for Kids to help you to colour and order your planets.
Use a paper plate or coloured yellow circle to represent the sun.
Post a picture of your solar system to your Google Classroom wall.
Learning Intention: We are learning to draft an informative text.
Success Criteria: I have written a conclusion that includes an Ending with Impact technique.
Tuning In: Watch the video of Mr. Heard introducing ‘Ending with Impact’ techniques that will help you to write a conclusion to your informative writing piece.
Activity:
Today your task is to write a conclusion for you Informative writing piece using one of the following Ending with impact techniques.
Link to the Introduction - Makes a link to the beginning of the text. This wraps up the text and makes it satisfying to read.
Call to Action - Encourage the reader to do something. For example, news reports often end with a call to action like; ‘To find out more, call the Community Centre.’
Make the Reader Think - End your writing piece with strength and emotion by encouraging the reader to think about what the future might bring.
There is an example below for you to have a look at if you get stuck for ideas.
When you have finished your draft don’t forget to self edit so that your draft is ready for publishing.
When you have finished drafting your conclusion, please choose your favourite paragraph from your writing piece to share with your classroom teacher for feedback.

Activity: Create a short story using as many words from your spelling list as you can.
Learning Intention: We are learning to tally money to equal a given amount.
Success Criteria: I can use different coin combinations to make a given total.
Activity: Today we are going to practice adding money through playing the game “Get rich by rollin!” For this game, you do need two players so if the adult supervising you is busy, reach out to a sibling if possible. If you want to use the tally sheet to record your rolls and the addition equation you can print off the sheet, otherwise, record your total as you go in your Math book. The winner is the person who has the most money after 12 rolls.
