Welcome to another week of learning from home. This is Week 6.
Please Note: Ms Brown (1A) and Miss Gunn (1C) will be unavailable for Google Meet today as they are supervising at school.
1B will meet on Google Meet at 9:15am.
There will be small group 'Meets' during the week. Please refer to each class' timetable in the drop-down menu under YR 1. The expectation is that each student will join their allocated time to participate in an interactive learning session with their class teacher.
Learning Intention-
-We are learning about the digraph /ay/ as in tray.
-I can choose my own 8 words from the spelling list.
-I can break up the words into sounds.
Success Criteria-
-I can select 8 words for my weekly spelling list and break them into sounds on my word grid.
-I can log onto SMART Spelling and watch lesson 13 on the ay sound.

Activity-
Highlight 8 words on the Weekly Spelling sheet
Write the 8 words into the Monday column on the Weekly Spelling sheet
Copy those 8 words onto your Word Grid and break the words into its sounds by placing one sound in each square
If you do not have a printer at home you can write your 8 words into your spelling book. You can also draw your Word Grid in your spelling book to complete.

Learning Intention- We are using our expressive reading skills to present our weather report.
Success Criteria- I can rehearse my weather report, reading with expression.
I can plan and prepare my weather report costume.
You Will Need-
Your draft weather report from last week
Paper, pencils, textas
Clothes or costume ideas to make you look like a weather reporter.
This project can take you up to three days. You can upload your video when you are really happy with it. Just like writing, your videos are your drafts. Keep changing them until you get it right. Your teachers are really looking forward to seeing your final published video.
Activity-
Read and re-read your report until you know it well and can read it expressively. Don’t forget to take note of the punctuation and to vary the tone of your voice. You might even rehearse in front of a mirror. It is not too late to edit- if you don’t like the way something sounds change it on your draft.
Plan the weather reporter costume you are going to wear. You might include; an umbrella, a sunhat, a fancy jacket, a beanie, a scarf, whatever you think suits your report and your weather conditions. Have some fun getting dressed up and seeing what looks right.
If you have some time continue with independent writing on a topic of your choice. Remember to go through the process. Plan, draft, edit, conference, publish.
Learning Intention- We are learning about what makes a good fit book.
Success Criteria- I can choose a book that is just right for me.
Activity-
You are going to choose a good fit book that you are going to study all week. Each day we will have a different focus to think about, so it is important that you choose a book that is a good fit for you. REMEMBER you can use your library on Reading Eggs if you can’t find a book at home. After you have spent some time browsing and you have found your book for the week, go and relax in your reading corner and read through it. Don’t forget to go for a book walk first.

Success Criteria:
I can compare the capacity of two objects.
I can order objects from smallest to largest capacity.
I understand that capacity is the ‘amount that something can hold’.
A Weather Chart is attached if you can't find yours. Either print it or draw your own chart on a piece of paper.

Capacity is the amount something can hold.
Have fun filling different containers with water, sand or rice to the following amounts:
-full (no more space to fill)
-half full (half the space left)
-empty (all the space is left to fill)
Complete the worksheets:

Label the table and draw items or colour each container to match the label.
Largest Capacity (p.79)
Look at each set of pictures. Circle the container with the largest capacity.
Write on the line examples of what you could put in each container.
Log in to Mathletics and complete the Assigned Tasks: How Full? and Filling Fast.
If you have already completed those tasks, finish any other assigned tasks then have a go at Live Mathletics.
