Learning intention: We are learning to read aloud and pause for punctuation (commas and full stops).
We will be successful if we can record ourselves reading aloud and pausing for punctuation. We will be successful if we can upload our video or audio to Google Classroom for our teacher.
The focus for today is on reading aloud and pausing for punctuation. Punctuation can change the meaning of a sentence if not used correctly. When reading aloud, it helps us maintain meaning as well as continue breathing as we read!
Step 1: Complete 30 minutes of independent reading of your current text.
Step 2: Choose one paragraph from your text to read aloud. Record yourself with video or audio and upload it to Google4 Classroom for your teacher to see (only your teacher will see this). remember, we are focusing on pausing for commas and fullstops. Mrs Lomas demonstrates this in the introduction video.
Step 3: If you have any learning tasks from this week incomplete, use today as a ‘catch up’ day and complete these tasks.
YouTube video: Reading Friday 28th August
Learning Intention: We are learning how to plan a recount using templates.
We will be successful when we: Create a plan for our historical recounts.

Today you will be planning your recounts.
Recount template- example.docx

Step 1: Following on from yesterday you are going to plan what your recount is going to include. This recount will be focused around the character you made up yesterday, not about yourself. Before you start planning, have a look at the example given, and think about what it has included and the format it has been made in.
Step 2: After doing this use the template provided (same as the example template, you can print and use this or write it up in your writing book) to plan what events are going to happen throughout the recount.
Step 3: When planning a recount think about the following things:
Who
What
Where
when
Why
Sequencing one idea after another in a sequential order, what happened first? then what? and then? etc.
Step 4: Upload to google classroom.
Learning Intention: We are learning to complete our weekly spelling test.
We will be successful if we:
Test for every word on the list, then correct individually
Correct our test
Upload your test results to your class Google Classroom.
Learning Intention: We are learning to complete our Length Post test on Essential Assessment.
We will be successful when we: complete and submit our length post-test.
Warm Up: 10 Minutes
Practice one of the areas you feel you need to improve before your assessment, whether that’s measuring objects, converting measurements or finding the perimeter of different shapes.
Main:
Log onto Essential Assessment and go to Measurement and geometry and Complete your length pre or post test, whichever you are up to, and submit it when it’s completed. Make sure to utilise the strategies we have practised this week and to make sure you are taking your time reading the questions properly (be careful with the longest to shortest and shortest to longest mix ups!).
Please remember to do your test independently (by yourself) so we can have a clearer understanding of what you still need to learn!
Reflection:
What skills do you still need to practise to improve your knowledge of length and perimeter?
