Today's task to be uploaded to Google Classroom: Writing
Welcome to the last week of term. The Grade 2 team would like to thank you for all of your effort at home during Remote Learning, it's truly remarkable what we have achieved together.
Tasks to be uploaded this week-
Monday- Writing (This is a Learning Task and will appear on your child's report)
Tuesday- Maths
Wednesday- Reading
Don't forget that as Friday is the last day of term, we would normally finish learning an hour earlier. Please make sure you do the same!
Learning Intention: We are learning to visualise what we are reading. We are learning to think about the appearances of the characters we read about.
Success Criteria: I can draw a picture of Mr Twit. I can think of the 5 senses (Hearing, smell, sight, taste and touch)and words to describe Mr Twit.
Home learning activity:
Watch Ms Ward’s video describing Mr Twit.
Watch Miss Bath’s video for today’s activity instructions.
Draw a picture of Mr Twit based on Mrs Ward’s description. Describe him using the 5 senses.

Did I re-read my work?
Did I draw Mr Twit with detail?
Does my drawing of Mr Twit match the description?
Learning Intention: We are learning to publish our writing with thought, care, time and effort.
Success Criteria: I can publish my writing with illustrations and neat writing.

Today’s writing session is to complete the publishing of the narrative piece started last week.
This writing piece and the draft needs to be uploaded to Google Classroom as it is the Term 3 Writing Learning Task that will be assessed and reported on.
Learning Intention:
We are practicing our spelling using fun games and activities.
Success Criteria:
I can practice my spelling words using games and apps.
This week we are going to look at spelling with games and apps.

Here are some online spelling apps and games you may want to explore this week.
‘Simplex Spelling Phonics 1 teaches a full year of spelling curriculum with over 450 high frequency words divided into 42 lists that are organized by spelling patterns and difficulty levels. Each of the 42 lists comes with a lesson that teaches one of the basic building blocks of spelling in the English language. These basic building blocks include the different phonograms, sounds, and spelling rules.’
2- Montessorium: Intro to Words

7- Spelling Bus
‘Spelling Bus is for learning to spell and practice to spell. Kids see the pictures and listens to the word and then type the spelling.’
8- Spelling Bug
‘Kids learn to spell the most needed words as they play. Application presents each word by displaying a picture and pronounces the word and presents the letters that are needed to make the word. Kids use there hand to arrange the letters in the right order to make the word.’

Learning Intention:
We are learning about strategies to help with division (share between).
Success Criteria:
I can use counters, drawings or a Multiplication Chart to help me work out division problems.
Warm Up:
Fast facts using Multiplication Chart. Students can use their Multiplication Chart to practice multiplication or division facts. If parents have time, they could give them a fact to find the answer to.
Activity: Division question cards
Students use the division worded problems below (print here). They should choose at least 5 to work out in their maths books. Counters, drawings or a Multiplication Chart can be used depending which strategy students find most helpful.
Every day you can choose one Specialist activity you would like to complete for the day. Remember there are five Specialist areas; Art, Performing Arts, STEM, Indonesian and Blue Earth.
