Writers Workshop
Video: Writing - Monday 10th August
Step 1: Go through your Writer’s Notebook and work out what writing piece you are working on. If you are not working on one currently, you will need to either start a new seed or find a seed and decide on a new writing piece to start.
Step 2: Continue writing at the stage you are at. If you have chosen a new seed, you will need to start planning a writing piece using the correct planning template like we discussed in class. Eg: If you decide to do a narrative you will need to plan your writing using a story graph template.
Step 3: Make sure you follow the Writers Workshop model: Seed - plan - draft - self edit - conference - publish. If you don’t have an opportunity to conference during your small group google meets with your teacher, or you cannot get a parent to go through your writing with you, you may move to the publishing stage, as long as you have edited carefully.
Step 4: Once a writing piece is published, go back to your Writer’s Notebook and start the process again. Remember you can always use the same seed, and use a different text type.
*Remember when publishing to be creative as possible. Try to publish in different ways and experiment with different programs.
Learning Intention: We are learning to set up our weekly spelling program online.
We will be successful if we:
Highlight the 8 words we want to study this week
Add 2 BOB words to our spelling list
Upload our weekly spelling words to our google classroom.
/au/ making the sound ‘or’ as in sauce
Students to highlight the words they have chosen soccer to study for the week- 8 from the list, and 2 from BOB list.
They then complete the ‘Monday’ column on the Weekly Spelling Sheet and stick into spelling books.
