Old Fashioned Beef Pot Pie

Modified from Old-Fashioned Favorites

1 lb ground beef

1 can (11 oz) condensed beef with vegetables and barley soup

1/2 cup water

1 package (10 oz) frozen peas and carrots, thawed and drained

1/2 tsp seasoned salt

1/8 tsp garlic powder

1/8 tsp ground black pepper

1 cup (4 oz) shredded Cheddar cheese

1 1/3 (2.8 oz) French Fried Onions, divided

1 package (7.5 oz) refrigerated biscuits

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In large skillet, brown ground beef in large chunks; drain. Stir in soup, water, veggies, and seasonings, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in 1/2 cup cheese and 2/3 cup French Fried Onions.

Pour mixture into 12 by 8 inch baking dish. Cut each biscuit in half, place cut side down around the edge of casserole. Bake, uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes for until biscuits are done. Top with remaining cheese and onions (I think you can leave off the extra onions, I don't really like the crunch of them, but if you like them, add them). Bake for 5 more minutes uncovered or until onions are golden brown.

Makes 4-6 servings.
