Sour Cream Cookies

Modified from an Amish cookbook at my mother-in-laws (can you tell I don't remember the title?), the name on the recipe was Mrs. Henry E. Mast

1 cup brown sugar (remember you can make this if you don't have it!)

1 cup white sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1 cup sour cream

3 tsp baking powder

1 tsp baking soda

2 eggs

4 1/2 cups flour

Cream sugars and shortening. Add all but flour and mix. Then add flour in parts until blended (they didn't say to do this, but I find it is easier to add that much flour in chunks). Drop by teaspoonful (if you care what your cookies look like, roll these as they will be "messy" due to the shortening if you don't...I couldn't care less!) on cookie sheet. Bake at 350 for 12-15 minutes (they didn't actually list a time, but in general this is a cookie time...mine were done, still a little undone, which I like, at 15 minutes. It also depends on size).

I got about 4 dozen cookies
