In preperation for the OH-11 Special in less than a week I think it prudent to take a light analysis of sections of the disrict, This part will take a look at the Cuyahoga County Council Districts, to which Shontell Brown was elected to the 9th.
Taking a look at the Elections in the districts we find 3 competetive districts, & 8 non-competetive districts, The three competetive districts being the 4th, 5th, & 6th.
District Numbers
In terms of presidential politics we find that Clinton & Biden each won the same districts, with both only loosing the 4th, & 5th
Furthermore, Taking a look at the actual council members we find 2 Clinton/Biden District Republicans(1st & the ancestral GOP 6th) & 1 Trump Democrat (in the 4th District)
We also have one decently safe republican districts, the 5th, which was only carried by OH Sen. Sherrod Brown landslide of the County
Taking a specific look to the 9th, the one with the most current Electoral Relevance, this is one of the safest District in the Cuyahoga county Council, normally clocking in at the High 80s, with even Gov. Strickland cracking 80% in his landslide defeat in 2016.
Furthermore, taking a look at the demographics of the district we find it too be Very Divided with a white portion and an African American Portion. With a somewhat mixed Portion in the South of the District
Lastly, an interesting thing to note is that this District takes in Cleaveland city council District 1, too which Nina Turner was it's elected City councilor. It should also be noted that said Portion Nina Turner Repped also happens to be the most uniformly African American.
Furthermore, it's Interesting to note the 3rd District, (The most hispanic out of all the Cuyahoga county Council Districts) Shifted to the right between 2016 & 2020 With Joe Biden Performing as well as Ted Strickland did in the District durring the Latter's major underperformance in Cuyahoga/Statewide Landslide defeat in Ohio.
