The 2016 presidential election in New Jersey, a win for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton over Real Estate Mogul Donald Trump Clinton won NJ in a comfortable 14% as she lost the presidency as the Garden State has been Solid Blue since 20 years Prior in 1996.
The Largest story to come out of this election was how Hillary Clinton Collapsed in the traditionally Democratic South Jersey loosing areas that had been Democratic since the Roosevelt Presidency in Gloucester county and Cumberland County.
At the same time, Donald Trump collapsed in most ancestrally republican suburbs in North Jersey, losing in a landslide the Union Suburbs and Somerset County and barely winning Morris County all of which for a time, were the Bedrock of NJ Suburban Republicanism
Still, Thanks to Clinton's margin in "the Spine" and more specifically her margins in Camden, Mercer (Trenton), Essex (Newark) Hudson (Jersey City, Union City, & North Bergen), Passaic (Paterson) & Bergen, (Hackensack, Englewood, & Teaneck) She was able to easily carry the state.
In her Win, Hillary Clonton won 7/12 Congressional Districts to Trump's 5/12 CDs, 12/21 Counties to Trump's 9/12 Counties, and 28/40 State Legislative Districts to Trump's 12/40 SLDs
