The 2005 Jersey City Ward E Election, because of changing demographics and a spirited campaign by 2004 Menendez Challenger and Former JC Mayor/State Sen. Glenn Cunningham acolyte Steven Fulop, Fulop ousted Councilman Junior Maldonado in what observers coined as a political upset
Fulop At the time, ran without the support of then Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah Healy (whom he would later beat in 2013), saying that he "[Respected Mayor Healy and I voted for him."
Fulop was just a precursor of what was to come, as while councilman Fulop a leading critic of the Hudson County Democratic Organization, Ward E has since become the Heartland of JC/Hudson County Progressivism, with progressive stalwart James Solomon being it's Current Councilman.
