The 2012 Presidential Election in IA, a 5.8% victory for the incumbent Barack Obama over challenger Mitt Romney that is very likely the last time IA will go Democratic on the presidential level for some time due to the major Dem slippage with the White Working class & Midwest Rural voters that has occured since 2012
As an exemplar of the old Iowa Democratic WWC/Urban coalition & the GOP's Rural/Suburban Coalition, Barack Obama won 32/50 Senate districts on the 2022-2032 Map, whereas Romney won 18/50. On the house map things are similarly lopsided with Obama winning 63/100 Districts to Romeney's 37/63.
Going forward these results won't mean much for IA State politics unless there's significant reversion in Eastern Iowa, but it is interesting nonetheless.
