The 1992 Presidential election in New Jersey, a contest between Incumbent President George Bush, and Arkansas Governor Bill Clinton, this election was the last time that New Jersey was truly seen as a swing state.
Despite voting for George Bush in 1988 by 13%, a lack of traditionally democratic Cities such as NY & PA, & despite being incredibly suburban the reccession was a large enough drag on Bush as to give the then republican leaning state to Clinton
In fact, this was the last time that New Jersey would be more republican than the nation as a whole (R+2), as in 1996 it would vote 9% to the legt of the nation, becoming a solid blue state on the Federal level up until the present day.
In his victory Bill Clinton won 10/21 counties to George Bush's 11/21, 8/13 Congressional Districts to Bush's 5/13 CDs, and 20/40 Legislative Districts to Bush's 20/40 LDs
