The 2008 Puerto Rico Resident Commissioner's Election, A Contest between former Justice Secretary Pedro Pierluisi and former Chairman of the Puerto Rico Government Development Bank (GDB) Alfredo Salazar Jr this result was the largest PNP win for Resident Commissioner in the Party's History.
Amidst the complete collapse of the PPD at the hands of the Indicted Gov Aníbal Acevedo Vilá's failure to win reelection - resulting in Luis Fortuño winning the governorship in a landslide, the disaster at the top of the ticket translated into PNP wins throughout the island.
Of these Pierluisi's win would be the most long-lasting one, as the former Secretary of Justice would be the only PNP to win island-wide in 2012 amidst the near total PPD win over the PNP.
He would later just barely lose the 2016 Gov Primary to Ricky Rosselló before returning to win in 2020 over the cloud of scandals that plagued the entire PNP in that election due to Verano '19.
