The 2012 At large senate elections: the largest statewide Victory for the PPD in the 2012 elections, and since the 2000 victories is one that can be attributed to the constant scandals comming out of the PNP senate caucus from the 2008-2012 term.
With it being the largest PPD victory of 2012 it is one that showcases the PNP & PPD's 2012 coalitions the best: With the PPD overperforming in the traditionally PNP Bayamón area of Metro San Juan and the traditionally PNP south west, whilst underperforming in the Ponce Senate district.
Alongside the PNP being held to their strongholds in the cordillera central, the Northwest and northeastern Tip, and winning the then traditionally PPD Municipio of Ponce
Similar to the Senate at large elections, the House at large elections saw a PPD Win, though significantly reduced to the PPD's third worst performance of the night - only beaten by the Governorship, and Resident Commissioner's elections.
In contrast to the Senate elections, the House PPD did better in most of the the southwestern corner of the Island, especially San German, but underperformed in most other places, such as the cordillera central, the San Juan Metro, and the North Coast
This is likely due to a mix of the House PNP having less scandals than the Senate PNP, as seen by the PNP's overperformance in the traditionally PNP areas, and the House PPD's overperformance in traditionally PPD areas - as there was little reason for people to deviate from their traditional parties.
However, the House PPD's relative conservatism to the Senate PPD, likely caused the underperformance in the Liberal areas of Metro San Juan and Cabo Rojo, where said conservatism led people to vote more on status than idiology (Statehood in the metro, & sovereignty in Cabo Rojo)
