An election I once thought lacked detailed results, the 1968 Puerto Rican Resident Commissioner's election was not just the first time an estadista won since Bolívar Pagán, but it was the first one that the Partido Nuevo Progresista won, begining the age of bipartidismo that charactirized Puerto Rican Politics.
This election also saw the ousting Incumbent PPD Resident Commissioner Santiago Polanco-Abreu due to then Governor Roberto Sánchez Vilella's Partido Del Pueblo splitting the PPD vote.
However, in comparason to the gubernatorial election, in terms of Margin, PNP Resident commisioner Candidate Jorge L. Córdova under performed Gov. Candidate Luis A. Ferré by 1.1%, with Córdova winning by 1.8% to Ferré's 2.9%
All in all, like the gubernatorial election, this election saw the first competitive Coalitions since the begining of the PPD's hegemony in 1944 that lasted to this election.
Said coalitions saw PNP strength in the San Juan Metro, Ponce Metro, and wining the areas between Ponce and Arecibo, as well as a few other areas, and the PPD being strong everywhere else, but especially in Humacao, Isabela-Camuy, the Cayey area, and in Sabana Grande where the PPD Cracked 60%.
On to legislative Districts, the Córdova won 21 House districts to Polanco-Abreu's 19 House districts, And Polanco-Abreu won 5 senate districts to Córdova's 3.
