The 1924 House election in NJ's 12th congressional district, an otherwise sleepy affair, this election's significance is marked by the fact that it was the first Election to the U.S. House of Mary Norton—the first Dem & eastern woman to serve in the U.S. House of representatives.
Winning her seat due to Frank Hague choosing her to succeed Rep. Charles F. X. O'Brien, she would eventually become a primary author of the 1938 Fair Labor Standards act, in addition to chairing the Comittees on the District of Columbia & the House Administration Committee
