The 2004 Presidential Election in North Carolina—a landslide for George Bush in his reelection against John Kerry, this would be the last time that North Carolina voted by double digits for any presidential candidate.
This large win came despite the presense of North Carolina Senator John Edwards on the Democratic ticket—and while his presense likely did help as Bush made Gains in neighbouring Virginia, Georgia, & South Carolina but didn't in NC—Edward's presense was unable to put NC into Play.
