One of the Aspects that go somewhat underdiscussed when discussing the 2020 Puerto Rican Elections is the effect that the Third parties had in preventing many candidates from getting over a 50% vote share, which as can be seen bellow was only acomplished by Three Candidates
Those Candidates were Orlando Aponte Rosario(PPD-26) Ángel Peña Jr (PNP-33), & Ramón Luis Cruz Burgos (PPD-34)
However, the fact few candidates crossed the 50% mark did not stop some impressive victories from occuring, as even with the emergence of third parties candidates were still able to get large victory margins(despite falling short of 50%) as can be seen in the map below.
I'll note that the candidate with the Largest Margin of Victory was Antonio (Tony) Soto(PNP-6) with a 20.19%%, and the candidate with the smallest victory was obtained by Jesús Santa Rodríguez(PPD-31) with a 0.37% margin
In any case another fact that I'd like to bring to light are the close margins in the normally hardcore PPD Cities of Mayagüez(Distrito 19) & Caguas (Distrito 32)*.
However, they have had PNP Representatives before, but only in PNP waves so in an Anti-Incumbent/PNP wave I found it suprising that they nearly Had PNP representatives, and in addition to that fact both city's mayoralties were close, so it's not *THAT* unexpected in context, but they were still considered PPD Strongholds so it is suprising.
