The 2017 NYC Mayoral Election, a 38.6% win in a City that normally Gives Democrats upwards of 70% of the vote resulted in Bill de Blasio winning Reelection over State Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis.
A sleepy win admist Republican Donald Trump's first year as president of the United States—de Blasio's reelection was funcionally a foregone conclusion from the beggining as no serious Democrats challenged de Blasio in this safely Democratic City
Despite this, and his later claim of a mandate, Malliotakis' stiff Challenge held him to a closer than usual win—and in doing so, highlighting de Blasio's inmense, yet not firey, unpopularity in the City.
Adding on to the overal results, the Working Families Party and Conservative Party Lines results highlight the areas where each party's respective (progressive and staunch conservative) Idiologies were and Are strongest.
The working Families party amongst Gentrifiers in Brooklyn/Queens as well as the West Side and Lower Manhattan, and the Conservative party amongst White Ethnics throughout the city.
