The 2024 NJ-09 Congressional Primary, a contest between longtime incumbent Bill Pascrell, and Longtime Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed T. Khairullah turned a resounding Landslide reelection for Pascrell in a primary dominated by the issue of Gaza
Early on in the convention season, two major pols—LD-05 assemblywoman Shavonda E. Sumter and Paterson Mayors Andre Sayegh—considered taking on Pascrell, the later being pushed to do it because of the district's muslim communities in Paterson, Prospect Park and Clifton
However, neither took the plunge, as Pascrell's acquisition of all the district's county lines—and massive institutional support among basically all the district's elected officials would have crushed their chances and ended either's chance to end up in congress.
Despite this, the Muslim community in the district was still outraged over Pascrell's lack of calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza, eventually pushing in one of their own—Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed Khairullah—to enter the race and prosecute the Gaza issue against Pascrell
And he did—despite Pascrell having been on good terms with the district's Muslim community for decades—Khairullah running a one issue campaign was able to landslide Pascrell in the District's Muslim communities,
winning precincts in South Paterson, South Asian East Paterson, and Muslim Heavy Cliffside Park
In terms of Relative Performance, in Passaic Pascrell did better than his overall performance amongst African Americans, some suburbanites, and the White Working Class, and Hispanics in Passaic county
