Despite the Red wave that washed over the nation in November 2021, one place where it didn't hit as hard was Pennsylvania where Republican Kevin Brobson held the seat vacated by former Chief Justice Thomas G. Saylor by 0.9% over Superior Court Judge Maria McLaughlin.
Near the end of the Campaign Brobson faced some controversy from the PA Bar association over one of his advertisements, prompting him to change the ad and remove the misleading attack that "one of McLaughlin’s 'largest donors is indicted by the FBI for political bribery'" (https://www.inquirer.com/news/pa-supreme-court-election-kevin-brobson-maria-mclaughlin-advertising-20211029.html)
However, despite that Controversy, and McLaughlin outspending Brobson $3.5 Million to $1.4 Million, the 2021 Red wave still proved to be too much to surmount, leading to Brobson's Narrow win.
